a couple impressions of the repair of my car. 1. the clutch is butter smooth. the first time i put my foot on it, i was shocked by the lack of resistance. I thought that resistance would add to pedal feel, but the lack of resistance actually allows one to manipulate the clutch evenly to any amount of engagement. so in a sense the lack of resistance adds to pedal feel. 2. the flywheel. i never knew how much i was fighting the sloppy flywheel. so much feathering of the accelerator and clutch to take off. 3. don’t underestimate the value of shifter cables. it was like adding gates to the pattern, or like having a new transmission. the precision of the shifter, going position to position, flows. it feels like it knows where to go now. 4.the check engine light air leaks. the light was annoying , but it was losing boost. before, my idle boost numbers sat at about 18-18.5neg.. with the leaks fixed it sits at about 12.-13 neg. it also seems to run boost pressure numbers into the positive more readily now too. that i believe is causing it to run slightly warmer, but still plenty cool. i will monitor that, but i’m curious, what is the general temperature range of the engine? 5. the water pump and pulley. why would anyone want to drive such a sweet car, that sounds like there’s a flock of birds under the hood. no more embarrassing squeaks of unsightly leaks. thanks so much for everything, it has changed this car for the better. I tell everyone who will listen. i had it in two very competent shops in Reno, but Mini Motoring Solutions was the first time i felt someone understood the car and what i wanted to get out of the car. thanks again B.

Wow -- I’m glad we could get your car in tip-top shape, from the clutch to the water pump pulley! We are glad you made the trek to have us work on your MINI! Keep us in mind if you ever need some more upgrades in the future! -Mark Fernandez, Owner

Top-tier First Class! Mark is a Mini guru. He is authentic, professional & treats his customers with respect and a level of informed service far beyond a five star rating. He provided my 02 Cooper S with a complimentary inspection & diagnostics. He told me this was an incentive provided to first time customers. Upon discovering what the issue with my car was, he explained it to me in a very informing & comprehensive capacity as well as telling me what the cost would be. My YES Mini was back on the road and running like new several minutes ahead of the estimated time. Mark Fernandez & MMS, a true hidden treasure which must be experienced for yourself. Thanks again Mark! A new customer for life.... -Joseph

I recently got my mini, and had jiffy lube do an oil change on it. I bought a used mini, so it wouldn't be too much of a surprise if it needed some fixing. Anyways, took it there, got an oil change, and everything is "good"! A couple of days later, I noticed that the truck door latch is broken a little, and I started looking up mechanic shops that handled only minis and I come across this one. I get in contact quickly with the owner there and set up an appointment. The day I go in, he quickly inspects it and let's me know that the latch is fine (my key has a sensor so it 'opens' when I'm near with my key), after that he asks when was the last time I had gotten an oil change....confused as heckkk I had said a couple of days prior to our appointment. After a few more looks....he realizes that jiffy had not used the proper seal to close off the oil container !! He smirks and tells me that jiffy is bad when "inspecting" minis. In other words DON'T TAKE YOUR MINI TO JIFFY LUBE!! Annoyed cause I had to refill my oil again, he inspects other parts of my mini and gives me an estimates of how much the total cost of other things would cost (he barely charges on the labor, so it's reasonable pricing!! And thank the GOD almighty cause minis aren't cheap to maintain ppl!) On another note, scheduling appointments is all a breeze! He really tries to work around your schedule, even though he's got 5+ cars to work on (a lot of clientele, just shows he's good!) , and also makes you feel priority! Going there gives me peace of mind knowing that Mark (owner) and his guys are practically geniuses when it comes to these cars! Time in and time out he has never let me down. I always leave his shop knowing what is exactly going on with my car and the technicality behind it. He builds and races these minis, soo he knows these cars like the back of his hand. I'm never going anywhere else..so he's basically stuck with me and my nosy self when looking over his shoulder! LOL!! Thank you Mark!!

I called Mark and had tons of questions for him. My wife car has been burning 1/2 a quart of oil every week. He gave me great advice and a couple options. I don't think most shops would've done what he did for me over the phone. Talking to Mark you can tell he has a passion for mini and wasn't all about making money.

My Mini Cooper was leaking oil and I have taken it to 3 mechanics including the dealership. They hesitated to get it fixed. They told me it's not threatening at all. I do a lot of commuting from and to work. Smelling the oil burning from my engine is not normal for me. For some God's Miracle crying for help, He put Mark in my path. Mark was having lunch right across from my job and he put his business card on my car window. When I got out of work, I found it. I hesitated to call him at first and was planning to take my car to the dealership. When I did my researched, I gave him a try. I AM SO GLAD I GOT TO MEET MARK!! I left my car with him on a Friday while I was at work, he even gave me a ride to work. That was so awesome. When I got out of work, I went to see him and he gave me the whole rundown what my Mini really needed and recommendations for later on. We set up an appointment for next Wednesday to take it in and he gave me another ride to work. I left my car for two days just to make sure he takes his time and fixes it to the fullest. He always follows up with me by calls and emails. My car was ready the next day. I was extremely impressed. It turns out he was only focused on my car. I went to pick up my car. It drives like a brand new car, no shakes, noises and no more leaks. The entire weekend, I drove the car all over town. NO more burning smells!!! I keep looking on the bottom of my car and it is so hard to believe there is no more oil leaks, the bottom is completely dry. I am so extremely happy with Mark Fernandez. He is my mechanic from now on and I am grateful that I even made a new friend. Thanks Mark for making my Mini as brand new again. See you at the next oil change due. :) - David Franco

I have been driving a Mini Cooper since 2011. Ever since I bought it, I struggled with finding a mechanic that I could trust to know how to diagnose and fix the mechanical issues of my car. I am no mechanic's expert (like most of us), so for years, I had to just trust that my mechanics were qualified and honest (ha!). After a few "non-expert" hands tampered with my car, it started to leak and burn oil, and I just knew that I needed someone who actually knew the ins and outs of a Mini Cooper's engine (which is apparently inside out and upside down when compared to a regular engine). My husband found Mark's shop on yelp and I can honestly say that Mark was our answered prayer! When we spoke to him over the phone, he was confident that whatever the problem was with my car, he could fix it. I left my car with him a few days and he FIXED IT. We've gone back to him a few times now and have left his shop feeling satisfied each time. He's knowledgeable, honest, and super easy going. I highly recommend him for anything from taking apart/putting together an engine to a simple oil change.

I met Mark Fernandez at a local Mini gathering in Southern California and quickly understood why his shop, Mini Motoring Solutions, has such great reviews. Mark and I began talking about the best dollar-for-dollar upgrade for a Mini, and he took the time to explain to me why a proper alignment and corner weighting was much more valuable than bolting on a huge turbo to make 300+ horsepower - what good is horsepower if you can't control the car? Mark's grounded, practical approach and honesty about what a particular part will actually do gives you confidence to trust his abilities. Mark is passionate about Minis, and his passion translates into a level of detail and service that can be appreciated by even the most stringent car owner. Mark is also a certified BMW Master Mechanic and knows all the tricks of the trade, like why you shouldn't run a titanium heat shield for instance. I brought my 2013 Mini JCW GP2 to Mark to have him inspect it prior to selling it, and Mark went over the entire car for me. He recommended an oil change and a brake fluid flush, and took care of both in a timely manner with no issues. Plus, Mark was also at the Cars and Coffee where I eventually sold my Mini, so it was very comforting to the potential buyers to meet my mechanic in the flesh and speak to him specifically about my car. A Master Mechanic with a presence at local car events is extremely important, as it's this connection with his customers that really sets Mark and Mini Motoring Solutions apart from his competition. Give Mark a call or stop by his shop, he'll be happy to help you out in the best way possible for your situation, whatever that may be. An honest mechanic you can trust is a difficult thing to find these days, but not if you head to Mini Motoring Solutions and ask for Mark!

Mark is a fantastic tech/mechanic. I went to get my car serviced by Mark at Mini Motoring Solutions and his work was very thorough. I had to replace my A/C compressor pulley because it was making a crazy noise. Mark fixed it with ease and finesse. He really loves cars as you can tell by the cars he has at the shop. I hate having to go to a mechanic, but going to Mark at Mini Motoring Solutions makes it easy for me to get my car serviced! He's a very welcoming guy and cool person to be around. I will definitely take my cars to Mark. I can't think of anyone else to go to.
